76.6kg - Why Up?

If reading about bodily functions offends you, look away now.

Last night I weighed myself before bed, and I was 77.7kg. Seeing that, I feared the worst - I expected to be in around 77 - 77.2kg this morning - so weighing in at 76.6kg isn’t that bad.

However it is still an increase from yesterday, and I’m racking my brains to think why. Usually I know my body pretty well, but in this case I’m stumped. It just shows that the learning is never over.

The reasons I can think of are:

1. Pure natural day to day variation.

2. That my body finally did find some fat branches to grab onto, like I thought it might yesterday. My food last night wasn’t super healthy, since the Korean spicy pepper paste contains sugar and oil, and I had the dish with both sweet potato noodles and a muffin - but still I don’t think it was excessive. It could have been enough to add a little weight, however, since I simply relied on implicit “it’s low fat enough” rather than checking explicitly calorie / fat / sugar content (details, details, details).

3. The poo that I can feel inside me now but which hasn’t come out yet weighs 0.3kg.

Now you know why I told you to look away if bodily functions offend you. Continue to keep looking away.

Seeing the difference in weight between morning and evening illustrates why I always try to weigh at the same time, and in the same condition (eg, just arisen). I usually have a poo before weighing, but today it wasn’t ready to “go on a boating holiday”. I’ve never weighed poo, so I have no idea whether it weighs 0.3kg or not.

I’ll watch what I eat today to give my body no further excuse to put on weight, and then see the results tomorrow. There’s nothing else I can do except watch and learn.
