Salad Dressing Contains How Many Calories?
As I was picking up a tuna salad for lunch at the convenience store, a rather plump walked over and picked up the same salad, then a sachet of dressing, and walked away.
Out of interest I picked up a sachet of the same dressing to check whether it listed nutritional information - and it did. 112 calories. That’s one calorie more than the salad itself.
I have to wonder two things. Firstly, is this woman thinking “This is a nice healthy salad that will help me lose weight”? And secondly, “Do people really know the effect adding that single sachet of dressing has to their weight?”
From all the dressings on offer, the lowest calorie (a sesame leaf dressing) was 22 calories. The highest? 130 calories. Personally, I prefer my salad without dressing - but if you must have some, it pays to choose wisely. Success at controlling weight is in the details. 108 calories is about 5% of what you’re allowed to eat and drink in a day.
A few minutes later I saw her again, now carrying a triple pack of sandwiches in addition to her salad. Of course it’s wrong to assume that everyone “chunky” is looking to lose weight, but it is certainly obvious to me now why she is plump. I wonder if it’s obvious to her.
