Broken Scales

I woke up this morning to find my scales broken. I’ve no idea how it happened - the LCD is cracked, which either means I dropped something on the scales, or my fat frame caused it to smash. I’m pretty sure it’s not the latter ;)

As a result, until I get new scales, I wont be able to weigh myself daily, and I don’t know my weight today. I’m pretty sure I’m no longer 72kg though. I can feel that I weigh more.

It’s quite difficult to find scales which measure accurately and consistently. I’ll be looking the next few days, but I don’t want to just run out and buy the first pair I see - accuracy is more important.

72.0kg - Two Kilos Under Goal

Today’s weight: 72.0kg

A shocking two kilos under goal today - but I believe this is mostly the result of going out clubbing until very late last night, and so being dehydrated this morning. My weight will most likely rise back up to around goal level naturally in the next few days.

74.4kg - The Start

Today’s weight: 74.4kg

Today marks the beginning of my vacation week - and my week of showing my brother the sites and tastes of Tokyo. As I said yesterday, this week is going to be an interesting challenge to me - to see how well I can balance a week of going out with eating sensibly.

74.5kg - A Challenging Week Ahead

Today’s weight: 74.5kg

It’s the day before my brother arrives and I hoped to be at 74kg exactly today. Unfortunately, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, and this time is obviously no exception.

Last night I went out to an Izakaya (Japanese bar) to eat. I chose somewhere that I thought would have a good selection of healthier foods - tofu, vegetables, salads, etc - but unfortunately not only was that not true, but the healthier foods tasted pretty terrible, so we ended up having to eat less healthy pickings.

Still, 74.5kg isn’t far from my goal weight - just 0.5kg. It’s within daily variation, and I’m happy still to be close.

The next week is going to be tough, as I balance between showing my brother a good time in Tokyo, introducing him to the variety of Japanese foods, and ensuring that I don’t lose track of what I’m eating and start piling on the weight.

74.3kg - Shock At Lasagne

Today’s weight: 74.3kg

I’m actually surprised by today’s weight. Last night I made last minute plans which got cancelled at the last minute and left me eating last thing at night - so I expected to have put on weight today, especially since it was lasagne, and lasagne that I made with purchased sauces for speed. Either the meal wasn’t as stodgy as I thought it was, or it’s an indication that my weight may drop soon. We’ll see.
